 Prompt: My learning style is definitely through hands-on activities. I have ADHD and sitting for long period of time talking or writing on a worksheet I can get distracted. When I can use my hands, I can usually remember what I am learning. If it is just copying something down from notes or what people are saying in class I do not remember it very well.

Summary: Today we worked on our poem poster and talked about the project.

Reflection: This project is pushing me to be creative with words and images.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

  Prompt: I had experienced being an outsider when I transferred to a new school mid-year, where people already had their circle and routine. I felt like a stranger and as if I was intruding in a world with no room for me. That sense of isolation made it hard to connect with other individuals and encouraged me to retreat further. Eventually, though, a classmate of mine began including me in group activities and conversations, and this helped gradually to erode the wall of invisibility around me. As in The Interlopers, that change of heart from viewing others as strangers to viewing common humanity changed the emotional weather and allowed for the building of a new sense of community.
