You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

Prompt: I think the class is going very well. I have a good grade so far and I do all of my blogs. This class is very straight foward with the work that is expected. So far I have liked most of the discussion in class.

Summary: We read poems from Emily Dickinson. We read "Because I  Could Not Stop for Death", "Hope is the Thing with Feathers" and "I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died".

Reflection: I learned that Emily Dickinson can be depressing sometimes when you read her poems.

Prompt Response:  I think about how my mom and my tutor help me with my homework and my SAT tutoring and they help me so much and help me understand how to take test and give me time to do my work Summary: many people go through life without asking for help and it makes life harder for sure. Reflection:  we worked on rhetorical devices.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

  Prompt: I had experienced being an outsider when I transferred to a new school mid-year, where people already had their circle and routine. I felt like a stranger and as if I was intruding in a world with no room for me. That sense of isolation made it hard to connect with other individuals and encouraged me to retreat further. Eventually, though, a classmate of mine began including me in group activities and conversations, and this helped gradually to erode the wall of invisibility around me. As in The Interlopers, that change of heart from viewing others as strangers to viewing common humanity changed the emotional weather and allowed for the building of a new sense of community. Summary:I was. not present in class this day Reflection:people will exept you if you reach out to them.
