When I played travel hockey we had a tournament that we played a lot of really good teams. We were in the playoffs and the game was neck and neck. We were playing a really good team from New York. When ended up going into overtime and were still tied. In hockey, that means that you go into a shoot-off. I was a defenseman and I typically wouldn't be in the rotation for a shoot off, but the players kept tying. Then, one of the coach's said "have Fuoco go". The other team's player missed his shot. I said a quick prayer and then went for it and made the goal. It felt like a turning point because there was a lot of pressure and everything was riding on me. I was fourteen and it felt like being an adult.

Reflection: The beginning of a story or event can lead to greater things.
