Prompt: Write about a fear you have overcome.

Prompt: Write about a fear you have overcome. a Fear I have overcome is the fear of missing out. I used to always be concerned about what my friends were doing when i couldn't go with them or I was grounded or something. now i usually occupy myself with stuff that is beneficial to me and I do that instead of thinking about what everyone else is doing. relfection: its hard to get over fears its just something that you have to suck up and overcome summary: we went over different types of poetry

I didn't make it because I wasn't on travel the year before and It was a level above what I played  the year before. It was wrong for the coaches to judge because my team ended up winning against them. Prompt: As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

Prompt: As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society? I think me and my family will disagree on politics the most. I believe more in the conservative values then the values my mom believes in. I have gotten into debates with my mom about it and I don't think she's changing her mind anytime soon, so the debates will continue. Reflection: we all agree and disagree on somethings and we need to look past it. Summery: we worked on more notes.

Prompt: Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

Prompt: Write about a truth you were afraid to accept. When I was ten I had a hard time believing I had ADHD, I didn't take my medicine for the first two months of having it because it made me feel weird and I didn't think I needed it. Then I took it one day I had a test in math because my parents forced me too and I got a really good grade and i finally accepted that I need a little help to keep up with others. Reflection. Sometimes it takes one experience to change your perspective on things. summary: we worked on notes because the wifi was out.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

Prompt: I had experienced being an outsider when I transferred to a new school mid-year, where people already had their circle and routine. I felt like a stranger and as if I was intruding in a world with no room for me. That sense of isolation made it hard to connect with other individuals and encouraged me to retreat further. Eventually, though, a classmate of mine began including me in group activities and conversations, and this helped gradually to erode the wall of invisibility around me. As in The Interlopers, that change of heart from viewing others as strangers to viewing common humanity changed the emotional weather and allowed for the building of a new sense of community. Summary:I was. not present in class this day Reflection:people will exept you if you reach out to them.

Of today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you. It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

Prompt: What I like most about the Lakeside community is the good friends that I have made. We all have a good time hanging out. Not so much during homecoming week, but I represent the school by playing lacrosse for the school. My favorite tradition is meeting before the dance at a local church to take pictures. Most of the class comes and parents do too. Summary: We did not have a bunch of time in class on Friday because of the pep rally, but we got to work on our project for a bit. Reflection: I learned to do the animation for reading my poem. Knowing how to do that would help if wanted to market a business.

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on actvities. Select one and tell why.

Prompt: My learning style is definitely through hands-on activities. I have ADHD and sitting for long period of time talking or writing on a worksheet I can get distracted. When I can use my hands, I can usually remember what I am learning. If it is just copying something down from notes or what people are saying in class I do not remember it very well. Summary: Today we worked on our poem poster and talked about the project. Reflection: This project is pushing me to be creative with words and images.

Which aspect of creating a poem do you enjoy the most? Tell what it is and explain why.

Prompt: What I enjoy the most about creating a poem is that I do not normally focus on being creative or unique with words. I am not a "wordy" person but having to write a poem forces me to get out of my comfort zone. Teenagers today are so busy with school, sports and activities. We do not take the time to be creative sometimes unless we have an assignment.  Summary: We read poems and worked on our individual poems. Reflection: I started thinking about my poem and how it can reflect more about me.

After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

Prompt: I am not sure if this is absurd or not, but I had a hockey tournament in Nashville. I was supposed to go to the tournament a day before my dad could go and I literally forgot my hockey bag with all of my gear and hockey uniform. My dad was pretty mad because he had drop everything to drive my bag and uniforms all the way to Nashville. Good news is that I had a pretty great tournament that weekend. Summary: I was not in class because I had a dentist appoint. Reflection: Since the subject is absurdity, I think sometimes you just have to go with when things get absurd. If you move on with the absurbity and not stress out then you are more likely to have fun.

"Heart! We will forget him!"

I had a hard time picking some of the symbols and words because the poem was very short. After I thought about it for a minute, the mind symbols I chose were a light bulb representing thoughts, a science beaker for scientific research and math symbols. For the heart symbols I chose a simple heart for love, flowers to represent beauty, wedding rings for commitment of love and the “love” emoji for romance. The colors that I picked were more sterile and colder for the mind and bright and cheerful for the heart. For the border I chose clouds for the mind because they are cold and rainy. For the heart border I chose hearts because they are the standard symbol. Cold and bright are complete opposites.

If you were to compose a poem about one aspect of your life, which topic would it fall into and what would your overall life's message be?

Prompt: If I were to write a poem about my life it would be about adventure. My message would be to not take for granted that we have a lot of the time. I would write about the adventures I have had in my life like going to Alaska, Greece and Italy. Then I would also write about the places I want to go in the future.  Summary: We worked on our soundtracks during class. Reflection: I learned how to use my thoughts to be creative while analyzing a poem.

You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

Prompt: I think the class is going very well. I have a good grade so far and I do all of my blogs. This class is very straight foward with the work that is expected. So far I have liked most of the discussion in class. Summary: We read poems from Emily Dickinson. We read "Because I  Could Not Stop for Death", "Hope is the Thing with Feathers" and "I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died". Reflection: I learned that Emily Dickinson can be depressing sometimes when you read her poems.
